Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig 21st September, 1983). 21, 1983) is a well-known American actor. She is most famously known for her role played Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV series as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. After the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington in Ohio and moved at Los Angeles. While struggling financially she landed her first role as Rachel's Room's main character the web-based video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. Her performance as Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV film Murder in Greenwich in 2002, earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost TV show in 2004. The show featured her as the principal character for two seasons and also won the Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was a co-star alongside Tom Welling on The Fog in 2005, wanted to move into the world of film. She starred as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken the year 2008) in Suburban Girl as well as The Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised this role in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). She also played Alice on Malice in Wonderland which is an updated interpretation that Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised Shannon's role in Lost for two episodes. This included the final episode of the series. In 2013, she appears in Californianation, the sixth Season. She portrays Faith who's a star-gazer and the girl in the group. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs as well as the elder sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was a teenager her career began as a small part-time actress for her father and appeared in Donnie Darko with her sister. Her subsequent roles included Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for both her performances as the main character of Secretary (2002) which is an erotic romance drama drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated for her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. The year 2006 was the time she appeared in several commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However, it was her role as Rachel Dawes that brought her greater attention for her performance in The Dark Knight (2008). In the wake of her performance that was a hit as an unmarried mother in Crazy Heart (2009), she received the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She then played in comedies and dramas such as Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012 Other roles she has played includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller), musicians in Frank (2014 and drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) as well as The Kindergarten Teacher. Gyllenhaal made her debut as a director and writer in 2021, with the psycho-drama The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
